Research Master’s Psychology at UvA

We offer the Cognitive AI track in the Research Master’s of Psychology program at the University of Amsterdam’s (UvA).

Cognitive Artificial Intelligence (CAI) Track

The last decades have seen an explosion in artificial intelligence (AI). By relating human behavior with that of AI and other computational models it possible to get insight into the mechanisms and processes that determine behavior. These models can also be related to brain activity. This track is well-suited for students that want to understand human behavior using state-of-the-art computational models.

The track prepares you for behavioral and neuroscience research using techniques and skills from AI and experimental psychology.

To obtain the A.D. de Groot Cognitive Artificial Intelligence Certificate students must pass 3 of the following courses and write a thesis on cognitive AI:

  1. Growing a Mind (block 1: Sept – Oct)
  2. Cognitive AI and Neural Networks (block 2: Nov – Dec)
  3. Deep Learning in Python (block 2: Nov – Dec)
  4. Cognitive AI and Neuroimaging (block 5: Apr – May)
  5. Thesis on Cognitive AI (year 2; blocks 4-6: Feb-June)
